Tragedy at Friends School Kamusinga: Form Two Student Succumbs After Falling Into Septic Tank

A tragic incident at Friends School Kamusinga has left the school community in mourning after the death of a Form Two student who passed away on 15th September 2024.

The student was discovered in a septic tank within the school’s premises.

According to an official statement from the school’s Board of Management (B.O.M), the Chairman, Prof. Moses Poipoi, reported that he was notified by the Chief Principal at 4:00 pm on the day of the incident.

The student was immediately taken to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital for emergency care and later transferred to Life Care Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff, the student was pronounced dead at 7:00 pm.

In response to the tragedy, an executive B.O.M meeting was convened early on 16th September to discuss the matter.

Investigations are currently underway by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior. School authorities have taken swift action to address the students, and the administration reports that calm has been restored on campus.

The B.O.M has committed to enhancing safety and security measures within the school to prevent such incidents in the future. Prof. Poipoi extended his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased on behalf of the school’s staff, students, and Board of Management.

The incident has shocked the school community, but the administration is focused on maintaining order and providing support as investigations continue.
